Although I didn't work at West End Academy for long, I ran a book drive that donated thousands of new and used books, art supplies, and office materials for the library, updated signage and displays, and spearheaded a volunteer program for students and parents to help shelve books after school. Teaching 800 students in grades 4k-5 required weekly lesson plans for each grade with multiple books and activities, plus additional lesson plans for classes that met at the library twice a week. To prepare for this position after working as a high school librarian, I did additional voluntary MOOC coursework (beyond my MLS degree coursework), in the History of Children's Literature and Children's Librarianship and took and passed the PRAXIS.
